NOTICE ON COLLECTION

The California Department of Child Support Services is committed to protecting your privacy. State law requires us to provide this notice when collecting personal information from individuals.

We collect personal information necessary to carry out our statutory functions and responsibilities relating to the administration of the child support program.

The collection and maintenance of your personal information is authorized under, but not limited to, the following:

  • Social Security Act, Title IV-D (42 U.S.C. § 651 et seq.)
  • California Family Code, Division 9 (§§ 4000–4253, § 17400 et seq.
  • California Code of Regulations (CCR), Title 22, Division 13

Any personal information collected is subject to the limitations of the Information Practices Act and other applicable state and federal laws. This may include your name, Social Security number, contact information, financial information, and information about your children.

We use this information to provide child support services, process applications, verify eligibility, collect and distribute child support payments, respond to inquiries, improve our services and websites, and comply with legal requirements.

We do not sell or distribute personal information to third parties but may share it with authorized agencies (e.g., courts, social services, law enforcement) as required by law, including disclosures pursuant to Civil Code Section 1798.24(e) or (f).

Providing personal information is voluntary. Failure to provide the required information may result in our inability to provide you with service or delayed processing. 

Individuals have the right to access certain personal information on them maintained by Child Support Services and to request correction of any inaccuracies in such records. Request should be directed to:
